Captain America: Civil War Crosses $1 Billion
Disney and Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War has become the first movie of 2016 to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office. The superhero film achieved the milestone on last Friday. Through Thursday, the tentpole’s earnings were $314.3 million in North America and $676.7 million internationally for a worldwide total of $991 million. Among other stats, Captain America:Civil War is the 25th title to join the billion - dollar club, not accounting for inflation. All told, Disney lays claim to 10 of those. Captain America: Civil War, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, reached the milestone in 24 days, matching Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. The movie is the 4th title in the Marvel cinematic universe to surpass $1 billion after The Avengers ($1.51 billion), Age of Ultron ($1.41 billion) and Iron Man 3 ($1.22 billion).
