We are planning to release Kabali in a big way in North India too, says its producer

The stage seems to be set for a grand release for superstar Rajnikanth’s Tamil gangster drama, Kabali on July 1. The trailer of the film has got a record 20 million views ever since its release even breaking the records set by the Salman Khan starrer Sultan. The film which is being produced by Kalaipulli S Thanu under the banner of Kalaipulli International V Creations, has already reportedly fetched a record business on the table of over Rs 200 crore before its release, with distributors offering unheard of prices for its theatrical rights, besides endorsements and merchandise. Kabali is being released in three languages in India- Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and it is being planned for a massive international release in Malaysia, for which the film is being dubbed in Malay. The Malaysian distributor, Malik Streams, who had also released the Vijay starrer, Theri in Malaysia, is also releasing Kabali in Indonesia and Singapore and is leaving no stone unturned in the pre-release marketing campaign. The recently released teaser of the film in Malaysia got an exemplary response with the audience asking for more. While Thanu has sold off the major territories and has reportedly kept the Tamilnadu territory for himself, he is now in the process of finalising the Mumbai distributors of the film. When contacted Thanu revealed that he was looking for a wide release of the Hindi version of the film in Mumbai and North India in more than 1000 screens and he was in talks with distributors for the territories. Directed by Pa. Ranjith, Kabali revolves around the rags-to- riches story of Kabali, a character modelled after a real-life, Chennai-based gangster. Apart from Rajnikanth in the title role, the film also stars Radhika Apte, Kalaiarasan, Dinesh, Kishore, Dhansikaa and Ritwika.
